The European Commission proclaimed 2022 as the European Year of Youth, launching an entire year of rich, thrilling opportunities for younger generations. The main goals of the initiative are:

• Renewing positive perspectives after severe pandemic limitations;

• Supporting young people, especially those who have fewer opportunities;

• Fostering a better understanding of the EU's possibilities in terms of personal, social and professional development; and

• Building a better future together - greener, more inclusive and digital.

 

ECEG has always cared about young generations' education and engagement in chemistry careers. We are therefore thrilled to announce, together with our network of national chemical organisations, a contest that will make you our next Young Chemical Influencer and the possible winner of two special prizes.

 

What is our main goal?

We believe that the chemical industry needs well-trained and motivated young workers. To achieve this goal, we need to make STEM more attractive to students and encourage scientific training (and chemical science). Above all, we must arouse in students a genuine interest in studying and working in the chemical sector.

 

Who can be a Young Chemical Influencer?

Are you a young student under 35 years old?

Are you studying in the field of chemistry or related subjects (University, PhD and VET)?

Are you resident in Europe?

Then you have all the requirements to participate in our contest and try to be the winner!

 

What do you need to do?

To be a Young Chemical Influencer, you only need a strong passion for chemistry and a smartphone!

You simply have to produce a short video and upload it to your Instagram or TikTok account from 13 September at 9.00 a.m. (CET) to 14 November 2022 at 11.59 p.m. (CET). Please do not forget to include the official @eceg_brussels tag in the video and/or in the caption and use the official contest hashtags #EYY2022 and #YouthInChem22.

 

We will announce the winners on 12 December 2022, and you will have a double chance to be the lucky one!

We will choose:

• A popular winner, based on the number of likes received;

• ECEG's winner, nominated by our Jury of Experts.

 

What is the winning prize?

Each prize – for the popular and ECEG winners – consists of:

• An unforgettable trip to Brussels, during which you will have the opportunity to attend meetings with institution representatives, labour market stakeholders, and other players in the sector. Of course, all travel and living allowances will be covered by ECEG.

• A prize with a value of EUR 500, awarded from national chemical associations according to the nationality of the winner. The specific type of prize will be decided by the national chemical association and will cover activities relevant to the future career of the winner, i.e. participation in conferences, training, specific courses, etc.
